Hansel and Gretel

Here is my piece, it's from the scence where they find the house and the witch. Here it is in a book layout.

I had a lot of fun with this piece and still have a few kinks to fix. Can anyone tell the common theme I tried to run throughout the piece?

The witch is too cool! I was trying to debate whether I should draw a really yucky and mean witch, but decided to kinda keep it simple. I love the scenario and the candy background you did.
Is the theme the colors? Blue and Pink? or is it the shapes? very very cool piece though courtney.

See, I tried doing a house convered in candies as well, but it looked too busy and out of balance. YOU managed to do it PERFECTLY! Just one more thing that makes Courtney awesome.:) I really like the warm palette you used with the blue accents. It's a lovely contrast. The details and colors of the witch's face are fantastic. I could look at her for a long time and still be interested. The kids look a little more subtle than your usual style, and I like that a lot.
Wonderful job!

Yum! It is not easy making a candy covered house, but let's face it, that's the page I drooled over the most when I was a kid. You made such a delicious looking cottage, I just want to take a big bite out of it! And I agree, the witch is evil, but not TO evil, just right. Wonderful, wonderful piece.

love it, chicka- love how you repeated the wrapped candy as a part of gretyl's dress- she looks like a piece of candy too. The witched booby cracks me up. The only thing I would change is maybe to dull the inside of the house a wee bit. I had trouble distinguishing the foreground from the background when I first looked at it. Some sweet stuff!
