South Seas Pippi

I designed this so that Pippi and the title are on the front, and the friends will be on the back.

Dee! This is amazing. You have made leaps and bounds lately in your work, that are so fun to watch. I love the movement and the spirit of this piece.

I think you captured Pippi and her friends, so well. I love how the piece sweeps to the right, leading the reader onward. =

The only thing that got a little lost for me, were the dolphins at the bottom. I might make them a bit darker, or the sky a bit lighter, so that they pop a little more. They are just so cute, I wouldn't want to miss them!

Great job!

I love how you have her leg tangled in the rope - ha!!

The wrap around concept was tackled wonderfully.

Great job!

Dee, you continue to surprise me, when I see your assignment postings, they just keep getting better and better! This is a fantastic cover image. There's a lot of detail and characters that intiruge me as a reader making me want to look inside and read what it's all about. Bravo!

I think this works well as a wraparound cover for, say a chapter book, even though you have it here as a horizontal picture book, yes? I think the type might need ti be beefed up for a picutre book cover, maybe in a different color. It looks a little lost, but doesn't matter, the illustration is very strong. I agree with frizz about the dolphins, maybe you don't even need them... although it's kinda nice that they blend in a little so they don't distract from Pippi.

Lovely work, i really look forward to seeing what you come up with on your next assignment!
