My year ahead
"Stop trying to give us [art directors/editors/others] what you think we want to see. Just be yourself."
-- Chad Beckermann, Harry N. Abrams

I don't know where this year is going to take me but I love the idea of surrendering to the Universe and letting be what will be. If one, or some, or all of the following things happen along the way, then that would be simply wonderful!
• Letting go.
• Receiving positive feedback about some submissions that I sent out in 2008. (I have learned to believe that rejections can be positive also).
• Revamp my Web site.
• Experiment with my artwork to see where I can take it next.
• Figure out how to generate some income. Being out of work again is tough, but I truly believe I will find a way. hmmm, maybe an Etsy store!
...and finally ...
• Slow down. (We'll see!)

Great list Leeza! I love how grounded it is, especially the letting go part. Isn't that always the way to success? I always forget that when I'm in the middle of a struggle...he-he.
I like the quote by Chad. It reminds me of something Ursula Nordstrom told one of her illustrators (I'm paraphrasing here),"Your job is to create. It's my job to tell you whether or not it's any good." ha.
(I like the final product of your sketch. Tons of textures, and the peeved chickie in the back cracks me up!)
I like the part about letting go. I think it's vital to not have a struggle between what you think you need vs. what the universe is telling you you need. That Mick Jagger line I had in my last post by Kathi Appelt? She also said, "When you're doing your life's work, your life works." How zen is that?! I think it's VERY true.
Continuing to grow from negative experiences/experimentation, etc. is a great theme! (And similar to what my tattoo will deal with!haha)
I can't wait to see what your new site will look like... and an Etsy shop will be on my list next year. :) I think you're one year ahead of me, Leeza! haha!
Definitely take the time to enjoy the roses, it's makes them that much sweeter.
GREAT list!
