Leeza Hernandez grew up on a small island just off the south coast of England. She moved to the mainland and graduated with a degree in art & design, specializing in typography. In '99, Leeza hopped across the pond for a change of scenery.

Illustrating for children - and book design - came later in life after more than 12 years as an art director working for magazines and newspapers. The frantic world of media has given Leeza an incredible variety of projects, invaluable learning and the wonderful gift of working to seriously tight deadlines. She understands all stages of production from conception right through to printing and has even messed with the stinky, inky presses, just so she could fully grasp the print process. She's even dabbled with writing and been published online and in print.

Leeza is an active member of SCBWI. She volunteers as editor & designer of the New Jersey chapter's newsletter 'Sprouts'.
